GD started his consulting business in May 2006 ! However, as early as January 1998, he took on a long term commitment to support an underprivileged community at "Kothambadi" village, Attur, Salem District 300 Kms South of Chennai. He exclusively used 'local labour" in the construction of a community center, where > 100 weddings of poor couples have been conducted for a token fee of $5 His efforts at bridging inter-caste tensions, in the village, have been widely recognized. He continues to support and visit the village every second month, along with his family ! He drew his inspiration from Alex Haley's book "Roots" and traced this village, where his grandfather's grandfather was a farmer and trader ! |
